HoYoverse translation overlay

HoYoverse game translation overlay for story-heavy quests

The problem is not only language. HoYoverse stories often stack names, factions, jokes, and event context very quickly. Kaption is built as a subtitle overlay for that kind of story-heavy play, starting with Genshin Impact and Honkai: Star Rail.

01

Keep one subtitle layer stable

If you constantly switch text language, voice language, and fan summaries, character names and terms start to drift. Pick one setup for a whole quest line.

A common setup is original or preferred voice-over plus a translated subtitle overlay, so you hear the performance while reading in the language that costs you the least effort. Polish is the first target language in Kaption today.

02

Use Kaption as the subtitle layer, not as a wiki

Kaption is best while the scene is happening. It keeps the current line readable, helps with dialogue choices, and lowers the effort of long conversations without spoiling what comes next.

Use wikis and summaries after the quest if you want extra lore. During the quest, the cleaner setup is simple: game audio you like, original text on screen, Kaption overlay, and no second monitor full of spoilers.

  • Good for Archon Quests, Trailblaze Missions, events, and companion quests
  • Helpful when a scene uses names, titles, and factions back to back
  • Less distracting than alt-tabbing to a translator
  • Does not replace post-quest lore reading if you want every detail

03

Write down only proper nouns

Do not make school notes for every line. Just keep a tiny list of faction names, places, and characters that repeat. This is enough to stop later scenes from feeling random.

  • Faction or group names
  • New locations
  • Character titles and aliases
  • Terms that are capitalized in dialogue

Questions

Is Kaption a HoYoverse game translation tool?

Kaption is an independent translation overlay designed especially for HoYoverse story-heavy games such as Genshin Impact and Honkai: Star Rail. It is not affiliated with HoYoverse.

Does Kaption modify HoYoverse games?

No. Kaption reads screen pixels and draws a Windows overlay. It does not modify game files, inject code, read memory, or automate gameplay.

Does this replace a wiki?

No. It helps you understand the scene while playing. Wikis are better after the quest, when you want to check details.
