How it works

All automatic. You just play.

  1. Reads the screen

    Kaption finds the dialogue box on its own and reads the text inside it, exactly as it appears on screen.

  2. Matches the line

    It looks the line up in the game's own dialogue, so a misread letter doesn't throw it off. Mid-conversation, the next line is already waiting.

  3. Shows the translation

    The translation appears just above the original dialogue and changes with it as the conversation moves on.

What you get

  • Faster than dialogue

    Translation usually appears before the game finishes typing the line. Star Rail and Zenless Zone Zero print whole lines at once, so there it shows up almost instantly.

  • Stays out of the way

    The subtitle box sits above the game's dialogue, and you can drag it wherever suits you. No alt-tabbing, no second monitor.

  • Copes with misreads

    Kaption checks what it reads against the game's own lines, so a misread "l" or "1" doesn't spoil the translation.

  • Works offline while you play

    The translation pack lives on your PC, so nothing goes online mid-game. You only need a connection to sign in and to get updates.

Skills, items and menus too

Press Ctrl+Q and draw a box around a skill, an item or a menu, and the Polish text appears right next to it. Ctrl+Shift+Q reads the same spot again. Kaption also recognizes the character and shows their skills with the build the game itself recommends.

What is Kaption?

Kaption is a Windows subtitle overlay for real-time game translation. It reads the dialogue visible on screen, matches it against game dialogue data, and displays translated subtitles over the game window.

My subtitles flicker on and off in fullscreen. How do I fix it?

Switch the game to Borderless or Windowed mode. In Genshin Impact and Honkai: Star Rail you can press Alt+Enter to toggle, or change the display mode in the in-game video settings. Exclusive fullscreen bypasses the Windows desktop compositor, which is how every overlay in Windows draws on top of the game. That is why Discord, Steam, and Xbox Game Bar overlays have the same limitation. Borderless mode looks and performs the same on modern hardware, with no flicker.

Is Kaption a mod?

No. Kaption is not a mod, patch, fan translation inserted into the game, private server, cheat, or bot. It runs as a separate Windows desktop app.

Does Kaption modify game files, inject code, or read game memory?

No. Kaption is designed to avoid game files, code injection, process hooks, game memory reads, network traffic manipulation, and gameplay automation.

Can Kaption get me banned?

No responsible project should promise zero risk for every third-party tool. The important technical point is that Kaption works from screen pixels and a desktop overlay, without interacting with the game process.

What games does Kaption support?

Kaption supports Genshin Impact, Honkai: Star Rail, and Zenless Zone Zero. Other story-heavy games, including more HoYoverse titles, are future targets rather than current support claims.

What languages does Kaption support?

Kaption currently starts with Polish subtitle support. The product is being built for multilingual game translation over time, but unsupported output languages should be treated as planned, not available today.

Generic screen translators usually translate whatever text they read from the screen. Kaption is game-aware: it uses dialogue matching and conversation context so translated subtitles are more stable during story scenes.
