Guide
How the kit works
Bring Yangyang in with Cerulean Song when available. It deals Aero DMG and gives her one Melody. Lazuline Mercy also grants her 8% Aero DMG Bonus for 8 seconds after the Intro.
Use Zephyr Domain to pull nearby enemies together. A hit gives another Melody. Through Feather as Blade, the fourth Basic Attack on hit gives one too. You can instead use a Heavy Attack followed by a Basic Attack for Zephyr Song, which grants one Melody on hit. Zephyr Song also works after a Dodge Counter.
Echoing Feathers holds up to three Melodies. At three, use Basic Attack in mid-air for Feather Release, consuming all three for consecutive Aero strikes and a landing attack. The landing hit counts as Basic Attack DMG. You can also perform Stormy Strike after a Heavy Attack or Dodge Counter while holding three Melodies. Compassion (passive) restores 30 STA after Feather Release.
Use Wind Spirals when you want another pull and Aero DMG. Once her Outro is available, switch to the character you want to receive Whispering Breeze. Its Resonance Energy recovery goes to that incoming Resonator.
Build and why
The game's build recommends five pieces of Sierra Gale. Its listed two-piece bonus gives 10% Aero DMG, which suits Yangyang's attacks. Two pieces of Moonlit Clouds are an alternative for 10% Energy Regen. A mixed two-piece setup gives both listed bonuses, but gives up the recommended five-piece setup.
Emerald of Genesis is the first weapon choice. It gives 12.8% Energy Regen, and casting Resonance Skill grants 6% ATK per stack, up to two stacks for 10 seconds. Blazing Brilliance is another damage option: it grants ATK and builds stacks that increase Resonance Skill DMG Bonus. Lumingloss gives 20% Basic Attack DMG Bonus and Heavy Attack DMG Bonus for 10 seconds after the Skill.
For support, consider Overture: casting the Skill restores 8 Concerto Energy, once every 20 seconds. Endless Collapse instead restores 6 Resonance Energy and grants 10% ATK for 16 seconds, once every 20 seconds. Emerald Sentence is another option with ATK and a Heavy Attack DMG Bonus tied to its Echo Skill condition.
Leveling priority
As a suggested order, level Echoing Feathers first for the attacks you use around Melody, then Wind Spirals and Zephyr Domain for their damage. Follow with Feather as Blade and Cerulean Song. If you mainly use Yangyang for grouping and her Outro, invest according to how much damage you want from her.
For maximum ascension, collect 170,000 Shell Credit, 4 Crude Ring, 12 Basic Ring, 12 Improved Ring and 4 Tailored Ring. You also need 46 Roaring Rock Fist and 60 Wintry Bell.
For all skills, collect 2,030,000 Shell Credit, 25 Crude Ring, 28 Basic Ring, 40 Improved Ring and 57 Tailored Ring. The remaining materials are 26 Unending Destruction, 25 Inert Metallic Drip, 28 Reactive Metallic Drip, 55 Polarized Metallic Drip and 67 Heterized Metallic Drip. These skill costs are separate from ascension.
Resonance Chain nodes worth it
A suggested long-term target is A Tribute to Life's Sweet Hymn (sequence 6). After Feather Release, it gives every team member 20% ATK for 20 seconds. Nature Sings in Symphony (sequence 3) is worth considering for grouping: it strengthens the Skill's pull, expands its range by 33% and adds 40% Resonance Skill DMG Bonus.
Close Your Eyes and Listen in (sequence 4) increases Feather Release damage by 95%, making it an option for more personal damage. Winds Whisper in Harmony (sequence 5) increases Wind Spirals damage by 85%.
The earlier nodes give Yangyang more of her own damage or energy: sequence 1 adds Aero DMG Bonus after her Intro, while sequence 2 restores Resonance Energy on a Heavy Attack hit with a 20-second trigger interval. You can use her without any sequences; the later damage upgrades are optional if her support is your main reason for playing her.
Teams
Pair Yangyang with a damage dealer who can use the Resonance Energy from Whispering Breeze. Carlotta and Xiangli Yao are teammate options named in the guides. Jiyan is another option if you want an Aero teammate.
Yangyang groups nearby enemies and passes energy to the next character, but her listed kit does not heal the team. Consider a separate source of sustain in the remaining slot. Baizhi and Verina are other teammate options named in the guides.
The Outro is not restricted to an element, so the incoming character does not have to be Aero. Choose who receives it before switching, rather than treating the energy as a team-wide effect.
Common mistakes
Do not switch out automatically as soon as you reach three Melodies if you want Feather Release's damage. Use Basic Attack in mid-air first to spend them. Remember that a Heavy Attack alone does not give Melody through Zephyr Song: follow it with Basic Attack and land the hit.
Do not expect Whispering Breeze to restore energy to everyone. It affects the incoming Resonator. Also, Zephyr Domain and Wind Spirals pull nearby enemies, so do not count on them gathering targets outside their reach.
Do not assume a five-piece set effect from the two-piece description. Sierra Gale's listed bonus is 10% Aero DMG at two pieces; the five-piece effect is not specified in the build details here.
