Guide
How the kit works
Start with Majestic Fists, which has up to five consecutive attacks. When attack 3, 4 or 5 hits, Ancient Arts changes into Furious Punches (Skill). Furious Punches restores Lion's Spirit and does not reset the Basic Attack cycle. After you cast it, attack 5 becomes Feral Roars (Basic). Use Furious Punches after Feral Roars to continue from attack 3.
Unification of Spirits holds up to 100 Lion's Spirit. With the gauge full, use a Heavy Attack to enter Striding Lion. You can also enter with a Basic Attack after Lion Awakens or Strive: Lion's Vigor (Ult), provided Lion's Spirit is full. The Intro and Liberation both restore Lion's Spirit.
In Striding Lion, alternate Basic Attacks with Mountain Roamer (Forte). Diligent Practice makes the next Mountain Roamer within 3 seconds of a Basic Attack deal an extra hit equal to 150% of Mountain Roamer's damage, counted as Resonance Skill DMG. If Lingyang is on the ground, use his Heavy Attack to return to the air.
Striding Lion normally consumes its gauge in 5 seconds. Lion's Vigor from the Liberation grants 50% Glacio DMG Bonus and halves that consumption rate, extending the state to up to 10 seconds. Below 10 Lion's Spirit, use a Basic Attack for Stormy Kicks (Forte); a Tail Strike (Forte) is then available. Spending Lion's Spirit also restores Concerto Energy.
Build and why
The game's build recommends five pieces of Freezing Frost. Its listed 2-piece bonus gives 10% Glacio DMG, which suits Lingyang's attacks. The 5-piece effect is not specified in the supplied set details.
Abyss Surges is the first weapon to look at. It gives Energy Regen, and hitting with a Resonance Skill raises Basic Attack DMG Bonus by 10% for 8 seconds. Basic Attack hits give the same bonus to Resonance Skill DMG, fitting the way Lingyang alternates the two.
For a 4-star option, Hollow Mirage grants up to three stacks of ATK and DEF when you cast Liberation, though taking damage removes a stack. Moongazer's Sigil is another option: it gives ATK and increases Liberation damage after an Intro or Liberation. Celestial Spiral is also worth considering for its Resonance Energy and ATK after a Resonance Skill.
Leveling priority
A reasonable leveling order is Unification of Spirits, Majestic Fists, Ancient Arts, Strive: Lion's Vigor (Ult), then Lion Awakens. The Forte comes first because it contains the Striding Lion attacks; Basic and Skill follow for the attacks you use to build and spend the gauge.
For maximum ascension, gather 170,000 Shell Credit, 4 LF Whisperin Core, 12 MF Whisperin Core, 12 HF Whisperin Core, 4 FF Whisperin Core, 46 Sound-Keeping Tacet Core and 60 Coriolus.
To max all skills, you need another 2,030,000 Shell Credit, 25 LF Whisperin Core, 28 MF Whisperin Core, 40 HF Whisperin Core, 57 FF Whisperin Core, 26 Unending Destruction, 25 Cadence Seed, 28 Cadence Bud, 55 Cadence Leaf and 67 Cadence Blossom.
Resonance Chain nodes worth it
For a damage-focused Lingyang, the sixth Resonance Chain node is worth considering: in Striding Lion, Mountain Roamer (Forte) gives his next Basic Attack 100% Basic Attack DMG Bonus if used within 3 seconds. The third node is another damage option, giving 20% Basic Attack DMG Bonus and 10% Resonance Skill DMG Bonus during Lion's Vigor.
The fourth node is useful to consider for a Glacio team. Frosty Marks gives all team members 20% Glacio DMG Bonus for 30 seconds. The first, second and fifth nodes can be left for later if those effects matter less to your build: they offer interruption resistance during Lion's Vigor, energy after Intro, and extra Liberation damage respectively.
Teams
Lingyang gives the team damage through Frosty Marks, a shock wave equal to 587.94% of his ATK. Consuming Lion's Spirit restores Concerto Energy during his active time.
Common mistakes
Do not use Mountain Roamer (Forte) without paying attention to your Basic Attacks. Using it within 3 seconds of one activates the extra damage from Diligent Practice. Also watch the gauge: below 10 Lion's Spirit, a Basic Attack gives you Stormy Kicks (Forte), followed by access to Tail Strike (Forte).
Do not assume you can enter Striding Lion after every Intro or Liberation. The Basic Attack entry requires a full Lion's Spirit gauge. If you fall to the ground during the state, a Heavy Attack gets you airborne again.
With Hollow Mirage, remember that taking damage removes a stack. Do not count on keeping all three if you are getting hit.
