Guide
How the kit works
If available, bring Brant in with Applaud for Me!. It deals Fusion DMG and makes his next Mid-air Attack start at Stage 2, provided he does not land early or switch out. Use Anchors Aweigh! to hit enemies and launch him into the air.
Captain's Rhapsody lets Brant chain up to four Mid-air Attack stages. After Stage 1 or 2, press Normal Attack to swing toward the target. Release to flip after a hit, or hold to continue attacking before the flip. Stage 3 flips automatically; press after a flip to continue the sequence. Flips reset Mid-air Dodge attempts.
Normal Attacks, the Intro and Resonance Skill build Bravo when they hit. Ocean Odyssey heals nearby teammates at 25, 50, 75 and 100 Bravo. To the Horizon heals the team and enters Aflame, doubling Bravo gain efficiency from Normal Attack and Anchors Aweigh! hits.
At full Bravo, use Returned from Ashes (forte) to spend the gauge, deal Basic Attack DMG and create a shield. If Brant is in Aflame, this ends the state after the attack. When his Outro is available, switch to the teammate you want to receive The Course is Set!.
Build and why
The game's build recommends five pieces of Tidebreaking Courage. Its two-piece bonus gives 10% Energy Regen; the five-piece effect is not specified here. Two pieces of Molten Rift are an alternative worth considering for their 10% Fusion DMG bonus.
Energy Regen also feeds Brant's ATK conversion. Above 150%, each 1% gives 12 ATK normally, up to 1560 ATK. In Aflame, each 1% gives 20 ATK instead, up to 2600 ATK.
Unflickering Valor is the first weapon choice. It gives 8% Crit. Rate, while casting Resonance Liberation and dealing Basic Attack DMG each grant a 24% Basic Attack DMG Bonus. Both fit Brant's attacks and his full-Bravo skill.
Laser Shearer is next: it gives 12% ATK, but its Resonance Skill Bonus requires damage against a target under Tune Strain - Interfered. Bloodpact's Pledge is another option; healing grants its wielder 10% Resonance Skill DMG for 6 seconds. Brant's Plunging Attack and Returned from Ashes (forte) count as Basic Attack DMG, not Resonance Skill DMG.
Red Spring is worth considering for its Basic Attack bonuses. Emerald of Genesis gives 12.8% Energy Regen, and Overture restores Concerto Energy when Brant casts Resonance Skill.
Leveling priority
A suggested order is Forte Circuit, Basic Attack, Resonance Liberation, Resonance Skill, then Intro Skill. Ocean Odyssey contains the Bravo healing and shield, while Captain's Rhapsody covers the attacks Brant uses to build Bravo. To the Horizon deals damage and heals; the Intro is a smaller part of his time on the field.
For maximum ascension, collect 170,000 Shell Credit, 4 LF Tidal Residuum, 12 MF Tidal Residuum, 12 HF Tidal Residuum, 4 FF Tidal Residuum, 46 Blazing Bone and 60 Golden Fleece.
For all skills, the listed costs are 2,030,000 Shell Credit, 25 LF Tidal Residuum, 28 MF Tidal Residuum, 40 HF Tidal Residuum, 57 FF Tidal Residuum, 26 The Netherworld's Stare, 25 Inert Metallic Drip, 28 Reactive Metallic Drip, 55 Polarized Metallic Drip and 67 Heterized Metallic Drip.
Teams
Lupa and Changli are Fusion teammates worth trying as the character who comes in after Brant. The Course is Set! amplifies that character's Fusion DMG by 20% and Resonance Skill DMG by 25% for 14 seconds, ending early if they switch out. Check how the chosen teammate deals damage to make use of the second bonus.
Brant can cover healing while contributing his own field damage. His full-Bravo attack also gives nearby teammates a shield, though a shield cannot be transferred when the active character switches off the field. For the remaining slot, Shorekeeper or Verina are other options named for Brant; check their kits against what your team still needs.
Common mistakes
Do not leave the field before using the full Bravo gauge if you want the shield and damage from Returned from Ashes (forte). During Aflame, remember that casting it ends the state after the attack, so use the faster Bravo gain while it is active.
Do not assume every Resonance Skill input deals Resonance Skill DMG. Plunging Attack and Returned from Ashes deal Basic Attack DMG, so a bonus to Resonance Skill DMG does not target those hits.
Watch your position in the air. If the Stage 1 swing fails to reach its target, Brant slashes forward instead; if a Stage 1 or 2 swing reaches but misses, he briefly hangs in the air before dropping. You can use Plunging Attack in those situations. Also avoid switching the Outro recipient out early if you want to keep its amplification.
