How the kit works
Before a fight, use Conversion Charge to gain 10 Gem Energy at the start of the next battle. Gem Magecraft also gives Rin 20 Gem Energy when combat begins. An ally who consumes or recovers Skill Points gains 70% CRIT DMG for 2 turns, and Rin gains 1 Gem Energy per point spent or recovered.
At 15 Gem Energy or at least 7 current Skill Points, Jeweled Sword Zelretch becomes Second Magic Experiment. The enhanced Skill deals 90% of Rin’s ATK as Quantum DMG to all enemies, then spends 3 Gem Energy per random hit, each dealing another 90% of ATK. It can repeat up to 33 times.
When you use the enhanced Skill above 2 Skill Points, it consumes points down to 2 and immediately grants 2 Gem Energy per point consumed. Watch the team’s points before using it. Bajiquan (Basic) deals 100% of ATK to one enemy when you need a Basic ATK instead.
An Gal Ta Ki Gal Šè deals 600% of ATK to one target and 200% to other enemies, restores 1 Skill Point and increases damage taken by all enemies by 20% for 3 turns. It also gives Rin 12 Gem Energy through a passive.
With Archer, Freeform Tohsaka Style can trigger after he attacks with his Skill. It requires 3 or fewer Skill Points or 5 active uses of his Skill during the current Circuit Connection state. The joint attack hits all enemies for 300% of each character’s ATK and restores 4 Skill Points. It triggers once, with the count resetting when Rin’s turn ends.
Build and why
For relics, start with four pieces of Genius of Brilliant Stars. It gives 10% Quantum DMG and ignores 10% DEF, with another 10% ignored against Quantum Weakness. Scholar Lost in Erudition is an alternative that boosts Skill and Ultimate damage, then strengthens the next Skill after an Ultimate.
For a planar set, consider Penacony, Land of the Dreams alongside another Quantum damage dealer: it gives Rin Energy Regeneration Rate and increases damage dealt by other allies of her type. City of Converging Stars is another option for a team using her follow-up with Archer. Tengoku@Livestream offers CRIT DMG and a larger bonus when 3 or more Skill Points are consumed in one turn.
Use CRIT Rate or CRIT DMG on the body, ATK Percentage or SPD on the feet, Quantum DMG Boost or ATK Percentage on the sphere, and ATK Percentage or Energy Regeneration Rate on the rope. For substats, look for CRIT Rate, CRIT DMG, ATK Percentage and SPD in that order.
Flickering Stars is the first weapon choice. It gives CRIT Rate and, after an ally consumes at least 4 Skill Points in one turn, lets allied damage ignore DEF while increasing Rin’s Skill damage. Into the Unreachable Veil is next, with CRIT Rate and a Skill and Ultimate damage boost after her Ultimate.
Life Should Be Cast to Flames is another option: it regenerates Energy at the start of Rin’s turn and reduces an attacked target’s DEF. Its extra damage condition requires a Weakness implanted by the wearer, so do not assume that bonus is active.
Leveling priority
Level Jeweled Sword Zelretch first, followed by An Gal Ta Ki Gal Šè, Gem Magecraft and Bajiquan. The Skill is the source of her enhanced attack; the Ultimate deals damage and raises damage taken, while the Talent supplies the CRIT DMG boost.
For maximum ascension, gather 308,000 Credit, 65 Sneering Harlequin and 15 each of Thief's Instinct, Usurper's Scheme and Conqueror's Will.
For all skills, the listed total is 3,000,000 Credit, 8 Tracks of Destiny, 18 Celestial Globe, 69 Galaxy Framework, 139 Cosmic Sandpit, 12 Destroyer's Final Road, 41 Thief's Instinct, 56 Usurper's Scheme and 58 Conqueror's Will. These skill materials are separate from the ascension costs.
Eidolons worth it
For a late upgrade, consider Nailed It This Time!: it adds 20% All-Type RES PEN, and using the Ultimate grants 24 Gem Energy and an extra turn.
Zelretch's Apprentice is another good option. If one enhanced Skill consumes at least 30 Gem Energy, Rin gains the same amount as Shadow Gem. While she holds it, her Skill is enhanced; that use consumes the Shadow Gem without consuming Gem Energy or converting Skill Points into it.
Dimensional Traveler raises Rin’s Skill damage by 30% and makes all allies’ Skill damage 130% of its original value while she is on the field. You can leave the level-only E3 and E5 upgrades for later. Red Devil: Triple Speed lets Rin’s Talent CRIT DMG boost stack twice on her, so consider it if you want to invest further.
Teams
Archer is the first teammate to consider. Their joint follow-up has its own Skill Point conditions and restores 4 points, while Rin’s passive grants both of them ATK and Quantum RES PEN when combat begins.
Sparkle is a Quantum buffer option, and Cerydra is another buffer to consider. For sustain, Huohuo or Dan Heng • Permansor Terrae can fill the team’s defensive slot. A lineup with Archer, Sparkle and Huohuo gives Rin a damage partner, a buffer and sustain.
No particular element is required to use Rin’s enhanced Skill. A second Quantum damage dealer does, however, benefit from Penacony, Land of the Dreams if Rin wears it. Track Skill Points across the team: allies spending or recovering them grant Rin Gem Energy and receive her CRIT DMG boost.
Common mistakes
Do not spend the enhanced Skill without checking the team’s Skill Points. If more than 2 remain, it consumes points down to 2, which changes what the rest of the team has available.
Do not wait for 15 Gem Energy when the team already has at least 7 Skill Points: either condition enhances the Skill. Also remember that its extra hits target random enemies, rather than a target you select.
Do not expect the joint follow-up without Archer or assume it triggers after every one of his attacks. Check its Skill Point or active-use condition and remember that its trigger count resets when Rin’s turn ends.
