Guide
How the kit works
Before a fight, use Ack! Look at This Mess! to attack. On entering battle, it deals Fire damage equal to 50% of Hook’s ATK to a random enemy and has a 100% base chance to Burn every enemy for 3 turns. This Burn deals Fire DoT equal to 50% of her ATK.
Use Hey! Remember Hook? on the target you want to focus. At the listed values, it deals 240% of Hook’s ATK as Fire damage and has a 100% base chance to apply Burn for 2 turns. That Burn deals 65% of her ATK as Fire DoT.
Boom! Here Comes the Fire! deals 400% of Hook’s ATK as Fire damage and enhances her next Skill. The enhanced Skill deals 280% of her ATK to the chosen target and 80% to adjacent enemies. Its listed Burn chance applies to the chosen target, not the adjacent enemies.
Attack a Burned enemy to trigger Ha! Oil to the Flames!: it adds Fire damage equal to 100% of Hook’s ATK and restores 5 Energy. Innocence also restores HP equal to 5% of her Max HP when the Talent triggers.
Playing With Fire advances Hook’s action by 20% and restores 5 Energy after her Ultimate. Use that opportunity to follow up with the enhanced Skill. Hehe! Don't Get Burned! deals Fire damage to one enemy when you need a Basic attack; Naivete increases her chance to resist Crowd Control debuffs by 35%.
Build and why
For relics, use four pieces of Pioneer Diver of Dead Waters. Its two-piece bonus increases damage against debuffed enemies by 12%, which suits Hook’s Burn. The four-piece bonus gives CRIT Rate and increases CRIT DMG against enemies with at least two debuffs, with a larger bonus at three. After Hook inflicts a debuff, the four-piece effects double for one turn.
Scholar Lost in Erudition is another option: it increases Skill and Ultimate damage, then boosts the next Skill after an Ultimate. Firesmith of Lava-Forging gives Fire damage and Skill damage, plus Fire damage for the next attack after an Ultimate.
For planar ornaments, consider Firmament Frontline: Glamoth for ATK and damage bonuses at 135 or 160 SPD. Rutilant Arena increases CRIT Rate and boosts Basic ATK and Skill damage when current CRIT Rate reaches 70%. Space Sealing Station gives ATK, with extra ATK at 120 SPD.
On the Fall of an Aeon is the first weapon choice. Attacks build ATK stacks, and breaking an enemy’s Weakness grants a temporary damage increase. Something Irreplaceable gives ATK, healing and a conditional damage increase. Woof! Walk Time! gives ATK and increases damage, including DoT, against enemies with Burn or Bleed.
Choose CRIT Rate or CRIT DMG on the body, SPD on the feet, Fire DMG Boost on the sphere and ATK Percentage on the rope. For substats, look for CRIT Rate, then CRIT DMG, ATK Percentage and SPD.
Leveling priority
Follow the game’s order: level Hey! Remember Hook? first, then Boom! Here Comes the Fire!, Ha! Oil to the Flames! and Hehe! Don't Get Burned!. The Skill is Hook’s main attack and applies Burn; the Ultimate enhances the next Skill, while the Talent rewards attacks against Burned targets.
For maximum ascension, you need 246,400 Credit, 50 Endotherm Chitin, 12 Ancient Part, 13 Ancient Spindle and 12 Ancient Engine.
To raise all skills to their maximum levels, you need 2,400,000 Credit, 5 Tracks of Destiny, 12 Shattered Blade, 54 Lifeless Blade, 105 Worldbreaker Blade, 12 Guardian's Lament, 28 Ancient Part, 42 Ancient Spindle and 42 Ancient Engine. These skill costs are separate from the ascension costs.
Eidolons worth it
For Eidolons, Always Ready to Punch and Kick is a good long-term target: Hook deals 20% more damage to enemies afflicted with Burn. It supports the same target choice as her Talent.
Early to Bed, Early to Rise is a useful early upgrade, increasing enhanced Skill damage by 20%. It's Okay to Not Know is worth considering for fights with adjacent enemies: when Hook’s Talent triggers, it has a 100% base chance to apply her Skill’s Burn to them.
Happy Tummy, Happy Body extends the Skill’s Burn by one turn, but you can play without it. E3 and E5 raise skill levels. If you do not need the later effects, stopping at E1 is an option; reaching E4 or E6 means obtaining the earlier Eidolons along the way.
Teams
Start with Hook as the Fire damage dealer, then add a buffer and a sustain character. Tingyun is a Lightning Harmony buffer, while Huohuo is a Wind Abundance sustain option. Asta is a Fire Harmony buffer if you want another Fire character; Bronya is a Wind Harmony alternative.
Pela is an Ice Nihility debuffer who can help add debuffs for Pioneer Diver of Dead Waters. Hook already supplies Burn, but the set’s four-piece CRIT DMG bonus asks for at least two debuffs on the target.
For a team built around damage over time, consider Kafka as a Lightning Nihility teammate or Sampo as a Wind Nihility teammate. Both have DoT roles, while Hook contributes her own Fire DoT. Fu Xuan is another sustain option if you prefer a Quantum Preservation character.
Common mistakes
Do not treat a 100% base chance as a guaranteed Burn. Check the target’s status before relying on the Talent’s extra damage and Energy. If the enemy is not Burned, use the Skill to try to apply it.
Do not expect the enhanced Skill to apply Burn to adjacent enemies by itself. It damages them, but its listed Burn chance is for the chosen target. E4 adds a separate chance to spread the Skill’s Burn when the Talent triggers.
Do not count on Rutilant Arena’s Basic ATK and Skill damage bonus below 70% current CRIT Rate. Likewise, check your SPD before expecting the extra bonuses from Space Sealing Station or Firmament Frontline: Glamoth.
Do not replace a sustain teammate just because Hook can heal herself. Her healing from Innocence is tied to her Talent triggering and restores 5% of her Max HP.
