Guide
How the kit works
Before combat, use Percipient Shine to Daze nearby enemies for 10 seconds. Attack a Dazed enemy to enter battle: Fugue advances her action by 40% and has a 100% base chance to apply her DEF reduction to each enemy for two turns.
Use Virtue Beckons Bliss on the ally you want to support. Foxian Prayer gives that ally 30% Break Effect and lets their attacks reduce Toughness against unmatched Weakness Types at 50% of the original Toughness Reduction. It does not stack with other Toughness Reduction effects that also ignore Weakness Type. The Skill also puts Fugue in Torrid Scorch for three turns. In that state, the chosen ally’s attacks give Fugue a 100% base chance to reduce the attacked target’s DEF by 18% for two turns.
While Torrid Scorch is active, use Fiery Caress to hit one target and adjacent enemies. Use Solar Splendor Shines Upon All against enemies whose Toughness you want to reduce: it hits all of them and ignores Weakness Type. If it breaks a Weakness, it triggers Fire Weakness Break.
Fortune Follows Where Virtue Spreads gives enemies Cloudflame Luster equal to 40% of their maximum Toughness. Once the original Toughness reaches zero, attacks can reduce this extra bar and trigger another Weakness Break DMG instance when it reaches zero. Attacks by allies against Weakness Broken enemies also convert their Toughness Reduction into one instance of 100% Super Break DMG.
Build and why
For relics, use four pieces of Iron Cavalry Against the Scourge. Its Break Effect helps Fugue reach her Trace threshold. At 150% Break Effect, her Break DMG ignores 10% DEF; at 250%, her Super Break DMG ignores a further 15% DEF. Thief of Shooting Meteor is another supported choice: its four pieces give Break Effect and restore 3 Energy when Fugue inflicts Weakness Break.
For planar ornaments, Forge of the Kalpagni Lantern gives 6% SPD and grants 40% Break Effect for one turn after Fugue hits an enemy with Fire Weakness. Talia: Kingdom of Banditry is an alternative that gives more Break Effect when her SPD reaches 145. Use Effect Hit Rate on the body, SPD on the feet and HP Percentage on the sphere. Choose Energy Regeneration Rate or Break Effect for the rope; prioritize Break Effect, SPD and Effect Hit Rate substats in that order.
Long Road Leads Home is the first weapon choice: it gives 60% Break Effect and can make broken enemies take more Break DMG. Never Forget Her Flame also gives 60% Break Effect and raises Break DMG for Fugue and a teammate. Lies Dance on the Breeze gives SPD and can reduce enemy DEF after an attack; its second DEF reduction requires 170 SPD. Resolution Shines As Pearls of Sweat is a four-star option that can reduce DEF when Fugue hits an enemy.
Leveling priority
Follow the game’s order: level Fortune Follows Where Virtue Spreads first for the extra Break and Super Break mechanics, then Virtue Beckons Bliss for its ally buff and DEF reduction. Level Solar Splendor Shines Upon All next, followed by Radiant Streak.
For ascension to the maximum level, collect 308,000 Credit, 65 Searing Steel Blade and 15 each of Immortal Scionette, Immortal Aeroblossom and Immortal Lumintwig. Maxing all skills takes 3,000,000 Credit, 8 Tracks of Destiny, 18 Fiery Spirit, 69 Starfire Essence, 139 Heaven Incinerator, 12 Regret of Infinite Ochema, 41 Immortal Scionette, 56 Immortal Aeroblossom and 58 Immortal Lumintwig.
Unlock her passive Traces as you progress. One gives Fugue 30% Break Effect and returns a Skill Point after her first Skill; another improves the team’s Break Effect buff when Fugue reaches 220% Break Effect.
Eidolons worth it
For the largest individual upgrade, consider Clairvoyance of Boom and Doom. It gives Fugue 50% Weakness Break Efficiency and extends Foxian Prayer to all allies while Torrid Scorch is active.
Earthbound I Was, Cloudward I Be is another strong option: the ally with Foxian Prayer gains 50% Weakness Break Efficiency. Beatitude Dawns for the Worthy gives Fugue 3 Energy when an enemy’s Weakness is broken and advances all allies’ actions by 24% after her Ultimate.
You can leave Verity Weaves Thoughts to Blade and Colored Cloud Rains Fortune aside if you are choosing which effects matter to you. They raise skill levels rather than adding a new mechanic. Bereft of Form, Which Name to Bear gives the ally with Foxian Prayer 20% more Break DMG, so consider it if that particular damage bonus interests you.
Teams
Pair Fugue with a Break damage dealer and put Foxian Prayer on the ally who will make good use of its Toughness Reduction. Firefly and Rappa are Break and Super Break options; Boothill and Xueyi also fit a Break-focused team. The buff helps against unmatched Weakness Types, though its Toughness Reduction is halved in that situation.
Fugue rewards the team for attacking broken enemies with Super Break DMG. When an enemy is broken, her passive also gives teammates 6% Break Effect, increased by another 12% if Fugue has at least 220% Break Effect. The buff lasts two turns and stacks twice.
Common mistakes
Do not spread Foxian Prayer around expecting several allies to keep it: before E6, it only takes effect on the most recent Skill target. Watch the three-turn Torrid Scorch duration, which decreases at the start of Fugue’s turns.
Do not assume a 100% base chance guarantees DEF reduction. Effect Hit Rate helps with effects that have a base chance. Also, do not treat the 220% Break Effect Trace threshold as the same thing as the 250% threshold on Iron Cavalry Against the Scourge; they improve different effects.
Watch the conditions on your sets. Forge of the Kalpagni Lantern needs a hit on an enemy with Fire Weakness for its temporary Break Effect. Watchmaker, Master of Dream Machinations requires an Ultimate used on an ally for its four-piece buff, so Fugue’s attack Ultimate does not trigger it.
