Guide
How the kit works
Before a fight, use Gravitational Imprisonment to create a dimension for 15 seconds. Enemies inside move 50% slower, and entering combat with them gives a 100% base chance to Imprison them for one turn. Only one allied Dimension Effect can exist at a time.
Use Edge of the Void to hit your chosen enemy, followed by four hits on random enemies. Each hit has a 75% base chance to reduce SPD by 10% for two turns. Time Distortion adds Imaginary DMG equal to 100% of Welt's ATK when he attacks an enemy that is already Slowed.
When Synthetic Black Hole is ready, it hits all enemies and has a 100% base chance to Imprison them for one turn. It also applies Weightless for two turns. Attacks against a Weightless target delay its action by 4%, up to eight times per target per turn. Weightless also reduces DEF by 40% and SPD by 5% through Time Distortion.
Retribution increases allied damage when allies attack Weightless targets, by 10% per stack up to 10 stacks, for two turns. Use Gravity Suppression when you need a Basic ATK; Judgment gives both Basic ATK and Skill an extra instance of Additional DMG.
Build and why
For relics, guides most often put four-piece Eagle of Twilight Line first: its Ultimate effect advances Welt's action by 25%, though its Wind DMG bonus does not help his Imaginary attacks. Four-piece Pioneer Diver of Dead Waters is a damage option that rewards attacking debuffed enemies and inflicting debuffs.
For planar ornaments, Pan-Cosmic Commercial Enterprise gives Effect Hit Rate and converts part of it into ATK. Lushaka, the Sunken Seas is another option for Energy Regeneration Rate; it also gives the first character in the lineup ATK if Welt is not in that position.
Lies Dance on the Breeze is the first Light Cone to consider. It gives SPD and has a base chance to reduce every enemy's DEF after an attack. At 170 SPD or more, it can apply another DEF reduction. Resolution Shines As Pearls of Sweat is next for its DEF reduction; Before the Tutorial Mission Starts gives Effect Hit Rate and restores Energy when Welt attacks DEF-reduced enemies.
The game's build suggests CRIT Rate or CRIT DMG on the body, SPD on the feet, Imaginary DMG Boost on the sphere, and ATK Percentage or Energy Regeneration Rate on the rope. Its substat order is CRIT Rate, CRIT DMG, ATK Percentage, SPD, then Effect Hit Rate.
Effect Hit Rate helps with effects that have a base chance. Punishment also turns Effect Hit Rate above 40% into ATK, up to an 80% ATK increase. Balance that benefit against the damage stats rather than ignoring Effect Hit Rate entirely.
Leveling priority
Follow the game's order: Edge of the Void, Synthetic Black Hole, Time Distortion, then Gravity Suppression. Skill gets the first investment for its repeated hits, while Ultimate and Talent support the rest of his damage and control.
For maximum ascension, gather 308,000 Credit, 65 Golden Crown of the Past Shadow, and 15 each of Silvermane Badge, Silvermane Insignia and Silvermane Medal.
For all skills, gather 3,000,000 Credit, 8 Tracks of Destiny, 18 Obsidian of Dread, 69 Obsidian of Desolation, 139 Obsidian of Obsession, 12 Destroyer's Final Road, 41 Silvermane Badge, 56 Silvermane Insignia and 58 Silvermane Medal.
Eidolons worth it
For Eidolon targets, I would consider Appellation of Justice first: it reduces the All-Type RES of Weightless enemies by 30%. Prospect of Glory is another damage option, giving Skill and Ultimate 30% CRIT Rate and 60% CRIT DMG against Slowed enemies. Conflux of Stars is worth considering for the 3 Energy it restores when Talent triggers.
Legacy of Honor adds Imaginary Additional DMG when Skill or Ultimate hits a Weightless target. Prayer of Peace and Power of Kindness raise skill levels. You can stop before those level upgrades if you are not aiming for later Eidolons, but you cannot skip them on the way to E4 or E6.
Teams
Welt brings Imaginary damage and debuffs without requiring a particular allied element. Pair him with a damage dealer and someone who keeps the team alive. Acheron is a Lightning Nihility option; Bronya can take a buffer slot, while Huohuo provides sustain.
Follow-up attackers such as Ashveil or Dan Heng • Permansor Terrae can attack Weightless enemies between regular turns. Those attacks can trigger the action delay, subject to its eight-trigger limit per target per turn. Dan Heng • Permansor Terrae also has a sustain role.
Common mistakes
Do not treat a base chance as a guaranteed debuff. Build some Effect Hit Rate and check whether the enemy is already Slowed before counting on Time Distortion for its Additional DMG.
Do not expect unlimited delay from Weightless: each target can trigger it only eight times per turn. Also check your team's other Dimension Effects before using Gravitational Imprisonment, since only one allied dimension can exist at once.
If you equip Lies Dance on the Breeze, check Welt's SPD before relying on its 170 SPD effect. With Lushaka, the Sunken Seas, check the lineup position before expecting its ATK bonus for an ally.
